As Publisher it gives me great pleasure to announce the release of Talemaker’s Havanese Breed Magazine, a new breed specific magazine filled with thought provoking and informative articles, from a variety of writers who bring their own unique and professional perspective. The Magazine content will be of interest to all owners and breeders in the wider Havanese community, no matter where they live in the world, or whether their Havanese is a beloved show dog or a beloved pet. Take a look too at the Magazine's web site and check out the front cover. If you like what you see, support us and subscribe to the magazine. Then tell your friends. It is available for download right now and will be available in electronic format only.In the first issue Bill Burns tells how he decided to buy his first show dog. Wendy Allenby, a long time breeder from the U.K., brings us her unique perspective as well as a report on Cruft’s 2010. Grace Kosub provides a thought provoking article which postulates whether or not we have gone too far. Suzanne McKay has written an excellent article about those intangible health benefits our dogs bring to us no matter what our circumstances. Liz Vargo walks us through a fascinating history lesson about the Havanese in the USA from someone who lived and breathed it. And your Editor provides a story about his neighborhood dogs and how being conscious of them helps him to be a better Breeder, especially in terms of asking the right questions to ensure puppies go to the right homes and live happily ever after. Kitty Braund writes an article only she could have written, sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience. Rita Thomas immerses herself in health concerns, writing in this issue about cataracts. Pam McClintock makes some excellent points about the importance of beginners having both a Mentor and the right dog in the show ring. Especially enjoyable is Teddy Green’s article about training, aptly titled After You Know It All. It reminds us that dog training has changed dramatically through the lives of dogs until today, when it pays all of us to keep abreast of developments. And finally, Suzie Kalman shares a bit of humour with us, describing her day to day experiences with a Bichon and a Havanese.
I can’t do this without your support. Please subscribe today with my thanks.
Thank you for reading.
Sincerely,
Nathan Potechin, Editor and Publisher.
